Packing up is hard to do...

As many of you know, we are about to embark on the most amazing journey of our lives thus far...yes, we are talking about the move to Europe!  I think we can safely say that neither of us ever thought we would be presented with an opportunity like this.  For the next 2 years, we will be working for Booking.com at the company's headquarters in Amsterdam and OF COURSE seizing the chance to travel around Europe.

Our departure date from the United States is Saturday, March 3, 2012.  At this point we are in the midst of the arduous task of packing up our lives here.  Both of our families have been gracious enough to offer their homes as storage for many of our items, and for that we cannot thank them enough.  We have basically sold or given away all of our belongings aside from our clothes, some dishes, and a few other odds & ends.  Now it's a matter of packing up everything that we will be taking with us.  We have also decided that we will most likely have to get a few step stools, as everything over in Amsterdam is built for people who are, shall we say, quite a  bit taller than the 2 of us!

We are very excited, yet a bit nervous.  This will be a huge change for both of us - assimilating to a new culture, new friends, new co-workers and as soon as we learn Dutch, a new language!  We won't have cars over there, so getting used to commuting on a tram or bicycle will be a change as well.  We anticipate being a bit homesick during the first few months, so feel free to leave notes and encouraging words here.  Also, if anyone is interested in visiting Europe over the next 2 years, please let us know.  We have a few visitors already lined up and would love to have more!
